Dr. Joel Riggs is a resident trained optometrist who graduated from the Indiana School of optometry in 2003. He has lectured on many topics in eye care at the state and local level on topics including dry eye, LASIK and glaucoma. Originally from Nebraska, Dr. Riggs grew up competing in sports and planned to become a high school science teacher, but after lengthy discussions with his friends and local eye doctor, he decided a change to optometry was in order.
Dr. Riggs made Littleton his home in 2006 and enjoys the Colorado lifestyle by hiking, road biking, and playing in the snow during the winter months. He also likes to go to Blackhawk to test his poker skills every now and again.
Dr. Riggs enjoys educating his patients about their prescription and ocular health, along with informing them about the systemic aspects of an eye exam. Some of Dr. Riggs's most significant findings involved diagnosing multiple sclerosis, blood disorders, rheumatoid arthritis and other systemic abnormalities all by doing a thorough eye exam.
